Our Story

In late March of 2020 the need for PPE was at its highest and Cone Health was in need of help. Dr. Dalton McLean, a cardiologist with Cone Health Medical Group, told his friend Seth Coker, a partner at construction firm Comet Development, about their need for more PPE and the lack of supply. Coker told Matt O’Connell, owner of Custom Converting Solutions Inc (CCS). CCS manufactures a variety of industrial products, some of these being used for vehicle interiors. Coker wondered if CCS would be able to fill the gap in supply and be able to provide Cone Health with the PPE that was desperately needed. CSS took up the challenge and thus NC Masks was born.

North Carolina Masks’ have additional non-woven polypropylene layers, as well as an electrostatically charged middle filtration layer which enhances the filtration efficiency of the masks. North Carolina Masks’ also pass all of the Level 3 standards set by the ASTM.
